Woke up this morning to find that YELP quoted me on my review of the Black Boar. I admit I screamed like a lil girl...

The Soloist: A Review

(7/10) Just saw this last night. Maybe it's just me but I felt there wasn't as much marketing or exposure for this movie. Interesting enough, this is loosely based on true events by LA Time reporter, Steve Lopez. The movie captures the imagination of Nathniel Ayers, played by none other than Jamie Foxx. Ayers, who's homeless but displays a unique talent of playing the violin grabs the attention of Lopez, played by Robert Downey Jr.. Lopez goes through great lengths to dig into his past and to reunite him with his former love, the Cello. The score and orchestra scenes are very powerful and can leave one with the chills. Worth checking out in theaters.

Adventureland: A Review

(5/10) This is a bit of a delayed review which shows how much of an impression that this flick left me. I enjoyed the unique plot of a young boy learning expand his horizon by working a small carnival-like amusement park called ADVENTURELAND. I felt at times I felt it tried too hard but had its enjoyable moments. Much of the plot is sketchy because it didnt' do a good job of establishing characters and did do a much better job casting some of the characters either. Ryan Reynolds as a mechanic!? COME ON! Jesse Eisenberg is slowly becoming a household name/poster boy for clueless naive virgin boys. Check out RODGER DODGER... nuff' said.

Monsters Vs. Aliens: A Review

(9/10) Just saw this last night and it was than I bargained for. I haven't laughed so hard at a cartoon in awhile. I was actually hyped up to check this out ever since I first saw the trailer. This movie is a play on 99.9% of Alien/monster movies that were made pre-1960 (Godzilla included). I was pleasantly entertained and felt that the content wasn't necessarily gear towards children. Much of the inside jokes and antics were geared obviously to their parents. Each of the "Monsters" were great and hilarious to say the least. Goofy and ridiculous characters that left me wanting more. There's quite a few liberal subliminal messages in the movie but I'll leave that alone. Its only a movie! LOVE IT! Would see it again!
