My So-Called Paperless LifeWu-Tang Meets Blue-Note
WuTang meets Blue Note cover artThe creator of the project, Graphic designer Logan Walters, offers (respectfully) that “the problem with the original Wu-Tang covers was how disjointed they all looked when put in the same playlist. The cleverest thing the Wu-Tang Clan ever did was negotiate separate contracts for everybody, but since these came out on so many different labels the cover art varies drastically. The “Wu-Note Project” is my attempt to amend this –all the covers work as a set.”

Video in Print
(From LA TIMES)
So much for quiet reading time.
An upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly will include what's being billed as the first video advertisements ever in a print magazine. According to the Associated Press, a video player with a 2-inch screen will be embedded on heavy-stock paper -- similar to what's used by greeting cards that play bits of music -- and inserted into the magazine.
And as in those cards, the video will start up as soon as the insert is opened.
The first ads will be for CBS and Pepsi -- they'll appear in the magazine's mid-September TV preview issue -- but not in all copies. The magazine, which would not disclose the cost of the ads, said the insert will only be distributed in the Los Angeles and New York areas.
The video player, made by the L.A. company Americhip, also includes a little speaker. The ads will open with the cast of the show "The Big Bang Theory" joking about the video and explaining how the reader can bring up clips from the network's fall lineup. The soft drink ads are for Pepsi Max diet soda.
A preview of the ad is on YouTube.
The video player supposedly can survive binding and shipping. But can they survive librarians?

Nerd Watches!
I can safely say that I've always wanted my own CALCULATOR WATCH for the longest time since growing up. Much of my asian classmates donned one and filled me with penis envy.

Speedcine
Want to watch movies for free? Speedcine indexes movies and where they can be watched for free-and legally!—across the web. Speedcine indexes feature length movies—by their definition at least 60 minutes long and not television shows—they currently have 13,000 movies in their database. When you search for a movie you're provided with multiple ways to watch the movie.
The primary link is to the free streaming source—movies come from providers like Hulu, Jaman, and Crackle, all authorized to stream the movies. There are other links, when available, for services like iTunes, Amazon VOD, Netflix, and so on. Part of Speedcine's revenue stream is generated by referrals to these services, although if you already have a Netflix account, for example, you can just sign in and add the movie to your queue.
Speedcine is a free service and requires no login.

Movie Stinger
I cam across this site on lifehacker, and it featured a site that tells you whether or not there are extra scenes during or after the credits. Often times when a movie fades to black is cue for some to head for the parking lot. I have grown to appreciate staying for the whole credits (it helps clear the theatre out). Since this site is relatively new, it only has info from the recently released movies. The site will also rely on its visitors to contribute to the site for other movies.

Broken headphones / Broken Heart
So I was messing around with my turntables and was cueing up the next record when I heard a very loud snap. I found myself with an earcup dangling on my right side of my head. Yes, I realized, I broke my headphones. :( These headphones have been with me for over 10 years and were the first "nice" headphones I'd ever purchased. (160 bucks worth!) I Suppose it was time I move on to other headphones but these were considered my fave. Looks like i'll have to search ebay for a new, maybe even used set. Its a recession bitches and I don't have money for nice headphones! R.I.P Sony MDR-V500 headphones

The Soloist: A Review
(7/10) Just saw this last night. Maybe it's just me but I felt there wasn't as much marketing or exposure for this movie. Interesting enough, this is loosely based on true events by LA Time reporter, Steve Lopez. The movie captures the imagination of Nathniel Ayers, played by none other than Jamie Foxx. Ayers, who's homeless but displays a unique talent of playing the violin grabs the attention of Lopez, played by Robert Downey Jr.. Lopez goes through great lengths to dig into his past and to reunite him with his former love, the Cello. The score and orchestra scenes are very powerful and can leave one with the chills. Worth checking out in theaters.

Adventureland: A Review
(5/10) This is a bit of a delayed review which shows how much of an impression that this flick left me. I enjoyed the unique plot of a young boy learning expand his horizon by working a small carnival-like amusement park called ADVENTURELAND. I felt at times I felt it tried too hard but had its enjoyable moments. Much of the plot is sketchy because it didnt' do a good job of establishing characters and did do a much better job casting some of the characters either. Ryan Reynolds as a mechanic!? COME ON! Jesse Eisenberg is slowly becoming a household name/poster boy for clueless naive virgin boys. Check out RODGER DODGER... nuff' said.

Bee Killa

Since Easter sunday my mom found out there was a bit of a bee infestation in on of the dressers that we moved out earlier in the week. We all went about it as if they would leave. My mom arrives
and reminds me that we have such a problem and that it has gotten progressively worse. I'M TALKING A SWARM HERE!. So I google "how to get rid of bees" and recieved a few tips (i.e. anything from cutting open a soda bottle to just hiring a bee remover to do the job). I don't know about you but i ain't spending NO $150 bucks to remove some goddamn bees! So I bravely suggest to my mom that I can take care of the problem. Armed with 2 fully loaded raid cans and a pressure hose and some big balls.....They all went down...ONE BY ONE.Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Monsters Vs. Aliens: A Review
(9/10) Just saw this last night and it was than I bargained for. I haven't laughed so hard at a cartoon in awhile. I was actually hyped up to check this out ever since I first saw the trailer. This movie is a play on 99.9% of Alien/monster movies that were made pre-1960 (Godzilla included). I was pleasantly entertained and felt that the content wasn't necessarily gear towards children. Much of the inside jokes and antics were geared obviously to their parents. Each of the "Monsters" were great and hilarious to say the least. Goofy and ridiculous characters that left me wanting more. There's quite a few liberal subliminal messages in the movie but I'll leave that alone. Its only a movie! LOVE IT! Would see it again!
I LOVE YOU, MAN!: A Review
(8/10 )The first comedy good comedy to come out this year is I LOVE YOU, Man. You've seen the previews and I must say that this flick lives up to its hype. Paul Rudd has grown on me since his "Clueless" days. He has yet to age. The dynamic of Jason Segel and Rudd is genuis because you truly feel as if they've been friends forever. My fave scene is the "Slapa-De-Bass" scene. Must see in THEATRES!
Sunshine Cleaning: A review
(8/10) - This flix is a must see, I enjoyed all of the performances including Amy Adams (I was never a fan and im still skeptical). An original plotline of cleaning ladies dwelving into the world of crime scene cleanup, at the same time, trying hard to clean up their own dirty lives. I am always intrigued with any movie with Alan Arkin. I was surprised to see Clifton Collins Jr. in this movie (More recognizable from "CAPOTE" and even more notably as the gangster from "187"). He's been getting more work that allows him to break out of his LATINO stereotypes. CHECCCK IT OUT!

Final Fantasy VII: An Ebay scam....
So I've been wandering on Ebay looking for stuff to sell or buy and I stumbled upon some Final Fantasy merchandise. When i was in high school I was a huge final fantasy 7 fan. I was never into video games as much as I was into this game. It was the 1st RPG (Role Playing Game) that I have ever played.I guess this game is really that popular these days cause I find old PS1 copies going for as high as $100+!!!!!! I would not pay that much for any game. Maybe its because i've been the most frugal I've ever been in my whole life. Luckily I have the game on PC! w00t w00t!
